Summer’s Longing

My heart does long for a glorious summers’ eve, Warm and ever-beckoning to me. I should close my eyes that I might dream, I am lying on the soft, warm earth; Giggling, I allow the dewy blades of grass To tickle in between my toes. As I sigh, wistfully I feel A caress so soft, a breeze across my cheek; The wind, it playfully teases and tousles, Stray strands of my dark, brown hair; Inhaling deeply the damp night air, I smell the delicate fragrance of distant flowers, The mischievous breeze drifts by – slowly- Cajoling me with its sweetness. How I long to gaze upon the place, Where Mother Earth and endless sky do meet; To watch the golden, setting sun, That slips silently from heaven unto the earth; Delighted, my senses are filled by so spectacular an array Of colors: reds, purples, crimsons and gold, Streaming out across a vast expanse of sky; I imagine it the finger painting of a child, The dark, indigo sky its canvas. The sun it slowly vanishes from view, The colors fade silently, until My soul is left to hold the vision Of a black, velvet heaven sprinkled with glistening stars; While a majestic summers’ moon Dangles lazily among them. The summer night looms about me now, Soft as a lover’s embrace; My soul knows no escape until the dawn. I smile, As the symphony of cheerful crickets Fills the quiet of the still night; With no concern for the morrow Or what the day might bring.Oh Magnificent Moon!

Enchant me, oh magnificent moon!
Shine majestically amidst the deep night sky.
Hanging high in the heavens above me;
Shine brightly upon the earth below,
Shine on me, let my path be bright;
Is there anything as breathtaking as you, my silvery moon?
Let me reach for you, extending my hands, my gaze upward
To the star –sprinkled velvet heavens;
Feeling I am gently wrapped in soft moonbeams.
I wonder…what would it be like to shine so cheerfully?
To outshine those glittering stars!
You, oh Moon, are the beauty of the nighttime sky!
Let your silvery moonbeams shower me with ethereal light,
Fill my heart with love!
Let my soul shine forth, beautiful in the eyes of heaven
Joyful in this moment, my life on earth, its ebb and flow,
The ocean tides,
The darkness and the light;
Bless the months that follow, treading one upon the other
in your silvery footsteps through the heavens, oh glorious moon!
Let me feel joyful in the beautiful way that I am made
Sing out all that makes me exceptional;
If only I believe in my greatest dreams
I will realize those dreams;
I will shine far more brilliantly than you,
Oh my wondrous moon!

Sparkle,
Sing and rejoice!
Dolphins dance above an ocean of tears
Smile as the sun shines
In the heavens,
Stars sparkle
In the firmament
All is as it should be
The dark and the light
The pain and the joy!
